We are a non-profit organization that is committed to finding new ways of understanding visual and performing arts
It is a common refrain of modernity that the understanding of traditional arts is receding. The erosion of the social and cultural context of the arts, compounded by the loss of connoisseurship has not only undermined the presence of art in our daily lives but has also significantly threatened the survival of traditional artistic culture in India.
The Society for Art Appreciation and Research (SAAR) was established to conserve and promote both tangible and intangible heritage of the Indian subcontinent. Through its extensive projects, SAAR endeavors to explore conservation strategies that bridge pedagogy and practice of the arts, promote artistic forms and encourage connoisseurship.
